Today’s Devotion Word

Wed, 21st October, 2009 - Posted by Dr. White | (0) Comment

Ps. 1:1-6  BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

UNPACKING: There are clear distinctions between the “righteous” and the unrighteous or “ungodly”.   They are different while in this world and they will spend eternity in different places.  Who they fellowship with, what they spend their time on and their attitude toward God and man are absolutely opposite one another.

David illustrates the characteristics of the “blessed” man in both negative and positive ways.  The “blessed man” doesn’t do some things, while he is very active at others.  The ultimate promise is that what he does will prosper, it will come to a good finish.  He makes it clear that the ungodly are constantly undoing their own hopes by their actions.

Too often we try to get blessed.  Instead, we should be doing what God has already promised to bless.  Right fellowship, thought and actions are what brings blessing.

PRAYER: Father, teach me to walk closely with Your children and to abhor the way of the world that is passing away. Help me to keep my mind as if I were keeping my life and guide me to live my life based on Your promises.  In Jesus’ Name, amen.

COMMITMENT:  I will focus my attention on the things of God.  I choose to have right associations.  I commit myself to put into action the principles of God’s Word, daily. (Mt. 6:33)

Are there any other lessons in this Word for me today?

What will the consequences be, if I don’t apply these truths in my life?

What else do I need to confess today?  Pray about?

Is there anything in my life that will keep me from honoring this commitment?  What will I do about it?

God’s Mark on America

Tue, 13th January, 2009 - Posted by Dr. White | (0) Comment

Did you know?

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the US Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the worlds lawgivers and each one is facing one in the middle who was facing forward with a full frontal view… It is Moses and he is holding the 10 Commandments.

Did you know?

As you enter the supreme court room, the two huge oak doors have the 10 Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

Did you know?

As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court justices sit, a display of the 10 Commandments!

Did you know?

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the federal buildings and the monuments in Washington DC.

Did you know?

James Madison, before President, known as “the father of the Constitution” made the following statement: “we have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the 10 Commandments.”

Did you know?

Patrick Henry, the patriot and founding father of our country said, “it cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Did you know?

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

Did you know?

52 of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established Orthodox churches in the colonies.

Did you know?

Thomas Jefferson worried that the courts would overstepped their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law an oligarchy: the rule of view over many.

Did you know?

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, “Americans should elect and prefer Christians as their rulers.” How then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

Conclusion:

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a fuss about having the 10 Commandments on display, or “in God we trust” on our money or having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the other 14% to quit insulting the 86% who are Christians or move to another country of their choosing? — author unknown

Jesus said, “therefore I say unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”  Matthew 21:43

What’s New at Zoe University?

Thu, 4th December, 2008 - Posted by Dr. White | (0) Comment

Bold moves are what is up at Zoe University as we prepare for a new year!  God wants us to live by faith.  Your dreams must be bigger than your fears and your reach greater than your grasp.

When everyone is waiting  and wondering what the economy is going to do and how to respond to it, Zoe University has chosen to be proactive.  Instead of just responding to our environment we are working to change the environment.

We do not want to be thermometers, we want to be thermostats.  All a thermometer does is tell you what is happening.  A thermostat on the other hand changes things to make it the way you want it to be.

As we take this daring leap into the future, we need people just like you to go there with us.  What can you do?

Glad you asked.  You can pray!  Of course, you can do more than pray but you can not do more than pray until you have prayed.

You can give.  If there has ever been a great opportunity to help change lives through Christian education it is right now.

Technology has made it possible for us to reach out in ways that were unimagined just a few years ago.  Our reach has now literally become global.  We can do things to help pastors and churches in places where we will never be able to set up schools.

These are the last days.  I say that with confidence.  As a serious student of prophecy for more than thirty years I believe with all my heart that we are indeed living in the days just proceeding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

The opportunity is great.  Let us do more than talk about faith.  Let us work together to take the truth of God’s Word around our planet.

Bend your knees in prayer;  put your hands to the plow and sacrifice to see the Will of God accomplished.  The Lord’s work needs your time, your talent and your treasure.

“Give and it shall be given to you good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, shall men given into you bosom”  (Luke 6:38).  Will you step into the deep with me and not only see but to be a part of the mighty works of God?

In His Service,

Dr. C. David White
